Caney Officer Saves Fellow Officers Life

A Caney Police Officer saves the life of a fellow officer at a police academy. Officer Joe Elliott attended the Kansas Law Enforcement Academy and while in the cafeteria an officer from the Hutchinson Police Department began to choke on food. The officer turned purple due to a lack of air. Officer Elliott recognized that the fellow officer was in serious trouble and preformed a Heimlich maneuver on the officer. As a result of Officer Elliott's quick actions, the officer's airway was cleared and he was able to breathe again.

Caney Police Chief Kevin Kitterman says they are extremely proud of Officer Elliot's quick life-saving actions and are glad he is a member of their team.
