A 21-year old man was arrested early this morning on multiple drug charges.

At about 1:40 am, Chanute police responded to the area of 1500 West Main Street for a call of a burglary in progress. As officers arrived on the scene they came in contact with Steven C. Fairbanks inside the residence. While in the process of investigation, and with the assistance of CPD K9, a search warrant was issued for the residence and a Chevrolet truck parked outside.

Officers arrested Fairbanks for possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana, interference with a law enforcement officer, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Fairbanks was transported to the Neosho County Jail without incident. The 2004 Chevy Silverado was seized pending civil forfeiture action.
