Parsons USD 503 Announces Start Date, Learning Options

 

The USD 503 Board of Education in Parsons has announced a plan to delay the opening of schools to September 8th and multiple instruction options for students.

 

For grades Pre-K-5, the first option for students will be in-person instruction with core class sized to be reduced to allow social distancing. The use of face coverings and social distancing will be expected. The second option will be remote learning. Online daily attendance will be mandatory during school hours, students must maintain a remote daily log documenting 360 minutes of daily learning activity and students will be allowed to participate in athletics and extracurricular activities.

 

For grades 6-12, the two options for Pre-K-5 will be available but a third option called Virtual Viking will be available. Students will be able to take their coursework online using a self-paced program. A minimum of 25 hours of the program must be taken a week, students will be required to stay in the program for the entire school year and students will not be able to participate in athletics and extracurricular activities.
