Gov. Kelly Warns Kansas May Need To Rollback Reopening Plans

Kansas Governor Laura Kelly has suggested that the state might need to rollback reopenings due to a surge of coronavirus cases. Speaking during a press conference Monday, Kelly pointed out the large number of recent cases as a reason to revert back to Phase 2 of her "Ad Astra" reopening plan. Under this phase, bars would be closed and mass gatherings would be limited to 15 people.

There have been recorded cases in 103 of the 105 Kansas counties. Kelly said the coronavirus does not care for state or county boundaries.

Kelly said she would monitor the situation this week and announce any decisions next week. There are now more than 26,000 confirmed coronavirus cases across the state of Kansas. KDHE officials also reported a median age of 37 for those infected, a sharp decline from the average age of 52 that was reported last March.
