Kansas State Treasurer Jake LaTurner has received an endorsement from a current U.S. Congressman. Rep. Ron Estes, who serves Kansas's 4th Congressional District, gave LaTurner his endorsement for the 2nd District position and said he would be the most likely to focus on the issues most important to Kansans.

LaTurner is in a three-way battle for the 2nd District seat that also includes incumbent Steve Watkins and Dennis Taylor. Watkins was charged earlier this week with three felonies and a misdemeanor regarding a 2019 local election.

Regarding his decision, Estes said that while Watkins deserves a fair trial, the Republican Party can not risk losing the seat to a "Nancy Pelosi liberal." Watkins' hearing will not be held until after the election.

Early voting by mail has already begun in the state of Kansas. The in-person primary will be held August 4th.
