SEK Cities To Receive Funds For Road Projects

Four southeast Kansas cities will receive funds for road improvement projects as part of the Kansas Department of Transportation’s City Connecting Link Improvement Program, which funds improvements to state highways that extend through cities. The funds will be handed out for the 2022 and 2023 fiscal years and address different issues.

Pittsburg and Arkansas City will each receive $300,000 for surface preservation for the state fiscal year 2022. Surface preservation projects involve maintenance work such as resurfacing.

For fiscal year 2023, Parsons will receive $200,000 for surface preservation while Coffeyville will get $1 million for pavement restoration which typically involve full-depth pavement replacement and may also address drainage issues.
