U.S. 400 Resurfacing To Begin

Motorists will want to give themselves extra time or have an alternate route in mind as the Kansas Department of Transportation expects to begin a resurfacing project today on U.S. 400 in Cherokee County.

The mill and overlay will start at Cherokee and continue east for seven miles to U.S. 69. Flaggers and a pilot car will direct one-lane traffic through project area during daylight hours so expect delays of 15 minutes or less. The speed limit will be reduced to 40 miles per hour through the work zone. The resurfacing project should be finished in one month, weather permitting.

KDOT awarded the $1.1 million construction contract to Bettis Asphalt & Construction, Inc., of Topeka.
