A man and woman were arrested in Chanute Monday evening on multiple drug charges.

Chanute police initiated a traffic stop in the area of the 100 block of East 19th street. During the traffic stop, Chanute Police Department K9 discovered methamphetamine in the car.

Both 41-year old James William Joseph Waggoner of Chanute and 35-year old Tonya Lynn Beisly of Neodesha were arrested for possession of methamphetamine w/ intent to distribute, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. Waggoner picked up extra charges of driving with a suspended license and operating a vehicle with an expired tag.

They both were transported to the Neosho County Jail without incident.
