Do's and Don'ts for a Safe Fourth of July

With the 4th of July just around the corner, fireworks stands are popping up in the city of Coffeyville. Fireworks can be sold and discharged starting July 1st through July 5th (due to July 4th falling on a Sunday) within the hours of 8 a.m. to midnight. However, Coffeyville Fire Department's Shon Price says there are some limitations on where they can be shot off.

Price says fireworks shouldn't be thrown or shot at any animal, person, or vehicle. He says most of the injuries they see are burns.  Make sure you have a bucket of water and a water hose connected to an outdoor faucet ready and to douse the fireworks in water after you are finished.
