COVID-19 Cases in Montgomery County Continue to Surge

The number of COVID-19 cases in Montgomery County continues to grow.

Emergency Management Director Rick Whitson told the county commission on Monday that the number of cases has doubled in just of a couple weeks. The current total now sits at 40, with more cases likely to be confirmed. Whitson said reducing that total will be a matter of continuing to practice prevention strategies, including avoiding mass gatherings.

The county commission also heard from CRMC CEO Brian Lawrence, who outlined the impact the pandemic has had on the hospital and its staff. Lawrence said the hospital is ready and prepared to deal with an increased workload.
