Motorists in Pittsburg who use Jefferson Street near the industrial park are encouraged to find an alternate route as roadwork gets underway in the area.

The City of Pittsburg along with the Kansas Department of Health and Environment’s Surfacing Mining Office is closing East Jefferson Street between Smelter Street and Stilwell Street. This closure is expected to remain in effect over the next couple of weeks as crews work to replace a portion of the street that has been removed. Truck traffic to the industrial park should enter from Rouse Street.

Motorists are asked to use extreme caution when traveling in the area of construction and be aware of workers in the work zone.
