Standoff in Chanute Ends Peacefully

 

A man in Chanute held police in a standoff on Sunday afternoon before peacefully surrendering.

 

Chanute Police responded to the area of the 100 block South Highland for a domestic disturbance. After meeting with an adult female and three juvenile children, officers quickly learned that a male subject was inside the house armed with a shot gun. The lady mentioned, before she left the residence, the male subject had threatened the four of them with the firearm.

 

CPD and the Kansas Bureau of Investigation began to try to make contact with the individual held up inside the residence. After a short period of time, 30-year old James Fredrick Rose of Chanute came out of the residence and turned himself into law enforcement peacefully. He was arrested on 4 counts of aggravated assault and domestic battery.

 

The investigation is still ongoing.
