Coffeyville Commission Receives Another Update on 11th Street Project

Coffeyville city commissioners continued to show their frustrations over the progress of the improvement project on 11th Street. At the latest commission meeting on Tuesday, commissioners learned that the new goal for the completion of the project has been set for July 4th. Mayor Paul Bauer pointed out the project has now taken over a year to complete.

The July 4th goal, if reached, would come just over 400 calendar days after the start of the project, which began on May 29th, 2019. The project was originally scheduled for 105 contract days, but the company received 46 additional days because of weather delays. Darrin Petrowsky, a KDOT area engineer, defined the conditions that must be met for days that don't count against that total.

Mission Construction, out of Saint Paul, Kansas, is the company contracted for the project. It has appealed to add four extra days to its total. Petrowsky said he had not yet decided whether that request would be granted.
