A deceased man who was found in Independence late last week has been identified. Friday evening sheriff deputies were dispatched to an address on South Cement Street for a report of a possibly deceased man laying in a garden. When deputies arrived, they found a man who appeared to have been deceased for a considerable amount of time. Investigators were called to the scene and the man was transported to Kansas City for autopsy.

He has been identified as 56 year old Bayard Laughlin. The circumstances of the death are still under investigation pending the results of the autopsy. Foul play is not suspected at this time.
