The Kansas Department of Transportation expects to begin a resurfacing project on U.S. 69 between Columbus and Crestline on today.
The work includes a surface recycle and ultrathin asphalt bonded surfacing. Flaggers and a pilot car will direct one-lane traffic through the work zone during daylight hours; expect delays of 15 minutes or less. The resurfacing project should be finished in one month, weather permitting.
KDOT awarded the $1.3 million construction contract to Bettis Asphalt & Construction, Inc., of Topeka.
