Moran Announces $4 Million in Grants for Kansas Law Enforcement

U.S. Senator Jerry Moran announced on Tuesday that Kansas will receive $4 million in grants from the Department of Justice's COPS Hiring Program for 15 law enforcement departments across the state which includes a couple of departments in the southeast Kansas area.

The Cherryvale and Arkansas City police departments will each receive $125,000 while the Bourbon County sheriff's office will receive over $118,000.

The Kansas City police department will receive over $1.3 million and the Wichita police department will receive $875,000.

Moran says the grants will help Kansas communities hire additional officers to make certain that the departments are properly staffed to meet the needs of their communities.

Other police departments across Kansas receiving these grants include Atchison, Bonner Springs, Cheney, Gardner, Goodland, Hesston, Hiawatha, Pratt, Wabaunsee and Wellsville.
