The Chautauqua County Health Department has announced that it has confirmed the first case of the coronavirus in the county. Testing sent to the Kansas Department of Health and Environment confirmed the positive case. The county is currently investigating the case and getting in contact with close contacts of the invidual and those who might have been in close contact. No further information about the patient will be released due to privacy laws. 

Health Department administrator Misti Byers is continuing to urge residents of Chautauqua County to frequently wash their hands with soap and warm water, as well as stay home except for essential activities.
