Kansas DCF Warns of SNAP Scammers During Virus Outbreak

The Kansas Department for Children and Families is warning participants of the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) to be on the lookout for scams trying to take advantage of the current COVID-19 situation. These scams attempt to steal personal information such as social security numbers, bank information or a participant's SNAP EBT or PIN number.

In one example of a scam targeting SNAP participants, a website asked those participants for their personal and bank account information to qualify for coronavirus-related monetary assistance.

If SNAP participants in Kansas are unsure if a request for information is legitimate, contact your local DCF service center.
