The Kansas State High School Activities Association announced on Thursday night that they would be cancelling the remainder of the state basketball tournaments around the state after the quarterfinal match-ups.
KSHSAA will continue to monitor the situation moving forward and provide any updates if necessary.
From the official KSHSAA Twitter Account: "After the conclusion of the quarterfinal round, the 2020 KSHSAA State Basketball Tournament will be cancelled. Given the escalating concerns regarding COVID-19, the best decision for the safety of the student-athletes and spectators was the cancel the remainder of this championship tournament. The KSHSAA regrets the lost opportunity for teams and players that have worked to achieve their goals."
Several other high school sports organziations have cancelled or suspended events over the past few days.
