Severe Weather Week in Kansas

For several states throughout the United States, this week (March 2-6) marks Severe Weather Awareness week. The National Weather Service out of Topeka is encouraging all residents to review their severe weather plans, and practice emergency situations as if they were real. In addition, the National Weather Service in Topeka will conduct a Tornado Drill at 10 a.m. Tuesday. Everyone is encouraged to participate in the drill by practicing seeking secure, safe shelter from a tornado.

Kansas encounters several forms of severe weather throughout the year, including tornadoes, damaging winds, hail and flooding.
