Indy City Commission Approves Job Creation Incentive for Brewery

The Independence City Commission has approved a resolution authorizing the city to enter into a forgivable loan agreement with Indy Brew Works. The city will make a payment of $5,000 to be made toward a job creation incentive, and came at the recommendation of the Economic Development Advisory Board.

The board recommended the loan because of the brewery's plans to use the money toward specific purposes outlined in the original request and also because of the potential revenue it could bring to the city. Indy Brew Works also plans to have five FTE employees within the first year of opening.

Also part of the agreement was that the brewery will provide yearly employment reports from the Kansas Department of Labor to the city, for every year for the remainder of the deal.
