Public Works Coordinator Jim Wright had a chance to get in front of the Commissioners to discuss road and bridge plus special bridge bid requests. They received bids for corrugated metal pipe that is out of the debit road and bridge fund which was reviewed and approved by the Commissioners to move forward with.

Wright also mentioned that the Kansas Department of Transportation had sent out a notice regarding the postponement of the bid letting for the project at County Road 3900/3400 (Tucker Corner) which will be moved to next month with the recent changes in the U.S. Department of Labor Prevailing Wage Rates.

Wright provided the Commissioners with a meeting agenda for the 2020 County Commissioners and Road Officials Meeting that will take place in Chanute.

Regarding special bridge, they sent out three separate bid requests to five companies for sheet piling, H-beams, and bridge planks in which one of those bids was received back from Welborn Sales out of Salina. The Commissioners reviewed and approved that bid that totaled over $28,000 for sheet piling. The bid requests involving the H-beams and bridge planks were tabled for the next scheduled meeting because they recommended re-bidding those items as a single bid.
