An Independence man given probation for two charges. 20 year old Austin Sutton appeared in court in front of Judge Jeffrey Gossard. Sutton was charged with theft of a firearm and a probation violation in a previous case. The theft could carry a 10 month jail sentence. Judge Gossard ruled in favor of a 12 month probation and agreed to allow Sutton to serve the probation he violated concurrently with his new sentence. If Sutton violates the new probation order he would have to serve the 10 month jail sentence.

Judge Gossard also ordered Sutton to pay $800 in restitution along with other court fees.
