Groundbreaking set for U.S. 169 Project

 

The Kansas Department of Transportation is set to hold a groundbreaking ceremony to jump start the delayed U.S. 169 T-Works project between Welda and Garnett.

 

The groundbreaking ceremony will take place on Friday, Feb. 21st beginning at 11:00 AM. The ceremony will be located at the northwest corner of the U.S. 169 and 1000 road intersection in Welda. In case of inclement weather, it will be moved to the Welda Community Center.

 

There will be special guest speakers including Kansas Secretary of Transportation Julie Lorenz and also Mark Bettis who is the VP of Bettis Asphalt and Construction Company.

 

Starting next month, KDOT's plan is to reconstruct and rehabilitate 7 ½ miles of U.S. 169 from Welda north to the roundabout south of Garnett.
