An Independence man was sentenced in Montgomery County Court for aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer. Judge Jeffrey Gettler sentenced 51 year old David Eytcheson to 43 months in the Kansas Department of Corrections for an incident dating back to April of 2018. Eytcheson called the police out to his house in April 2018 on reports of hearing people in his attic. When police arrived they discovered he was under the influence of methamphetamine and was hallucinating and no one was trespassing in his home. When police attempted to arrest Eytcheson for drug possession he picked up a knife and an officer was cut on his pinky finger.
Officer Cook and Officer Lupardas, who were the officers involved in the original incident, were both present and gave statements.
