Chanute Man Arrested For Assault, Criminal Damage

 

A Chanute man was arrested on Saturday on numerous charges including assault.

 

Officers with the Chanute Police Department responded to a disturbance in the 1100 block of South Central. Upon arrival, officers made contact with 39-year old Jeremy Peavy who showed officers a large knife that he had in his possession, but never came at them with it. Peavy began to holler and scream at the officers and a short confrontation took place with Peavy attempting the strike the officers with his fist before being placed into custody.

 

During the investigation into the original incident, one of the police cars parked in the area had been damaged and vandalized. Witnesses stated that they had seen Peavy do the damage to the patrol car. Peavy was placed under arrest for assault on law enforcement officer, felony criminal damage, misdemeanor criminal damage, interference with law enforcement officer and disorderly conduct. He was transported to the Neosho County Jail.
