The Greenbush Astrophysical Observatory near Girard will be holding its monthly observatory night on January 17th at 7pm with a presentation on black holes by resident astronomy guru Josh Cochran, followed by a viewing of the night sky using the research-grade telescope. Smaller telescopes, binoculars, and iPads loaded with astronomy apps are also available for visitors to enjoy.
Black holes are among the most mysterious and poorly understood objects in the universe. They are often a popular target of science fiction writers and this leads to many misunderstandings. Come learn about what we know and also do not know about black holes.
