First Trial in Drive-by Shooting

 

Bond has been set for $750,000 for the Coffeyville man accused of first-degree murder and attempted first-degree murder. 18 year old Benjamin Mason allegedly shot and killed 19 year old Kimberly Meeks and fired shots at Benjamin Whitaker during a drive by shooting in Independence on December 14th. If Mason is convicted of first-degree murder it could result in 25 years to life with no possibility of parole.

 

There was no attorney present for Mason who says his parents are intending to hire one for him. The next hearing is set for January 14th.
