The Independence City Commission will meet in special session tomorrow, November 20th to consider requests and hold discussions with certain boards. The three-person commission will first consider a request from Susan Scovel to rename the Memorial Hall auditorium after Independence native and Neewollah revivalist Jim Halsey. If approved, the auditorium would start going by the name of the Halsey Performing Arts Center.

The commission will also hold a joint discussion with the members of the Economic Development Advisory Board. Finally, the commission will meet in executive session to handle matters of non-elected personnel.

The meeting will begin at 9:00 in the Veterans Room at Memorial Hall.
