Halloween Safety Tips

85 to 90 percent of U.S. children go trick-or-treating or engage in other Halloween festivities every year, and many adults also join in on the fun. Executive Director of the Greater Kansas City & Northwest Missouri Chapter of the American Red Cross Jeremie Ballinger says Halloween is even more fun when everyone stays safe. It’s a challenge to prepare and plan wisely for all the Halloween fun and festivities but doing so helps avoid problems. With all this activity on the horizon, Ballinger offers some tips everyone can follow to help stay safe this Halloween while enjoying the holiday.

Plan the trick-or-treat route, make sure trick-or-treaters can see and be seen, walk only on sidewalks, not in the street, turn on your porch light, and light your area well so young visitors can see and if you are driving, use extra caution.
