A man killed this weekend during a distance race at Elk City Lake has been identified.

The man was identified as 33-year old Thomas Stanley of Andover, Kansas. Stanley was competing in the FlatRock 50K and 25K, which is held annually at the lake. He was struck by lightning as he approached the finish line. Stanley was the director of business initiatives at the Kansas Leadership Center. A fundraiser has since been started to support the Stanley family.

Storms were prevalent through the Montgomery County area for most of the weekend, including at Elk City Lake.
