Parks Board Expands in Coffeyville

The Coffeyville City Commission approved two new members to the Parks Board Tuesday. Lisa Brookover and Marcus Kastler will begin serving their 4-year terms immediately through Jan. 1, 2023. Brookover was on the Planning Commission but decided the Parks Board is a better fit. She said in the past a lot of civics organizations supported the Parks, and she believes they will be ready to support again and would like to help make that happen. Kastler told commissioners he thinks a “reset button” is necessary and would like to help Coffeyville create a safe, recreational place for kids and adults to exercise.

Mayor Paul Bauer requested from the new members and Parks Board as a whole for “actionable items” and “to go a little deeper” with a long-term plan. Mayor Bauer enthusiastically accepted an invitation to meet with Kastler and other board members to discuss funding and plans moving forward. The last Parks report presented to the Commissioners was in 2014 and is available on the City website.

For anyone interested in helping improve Coffeyville's Parks & Recreation, there is one more board position open. For more information, contact City Clerk Cindy Price at 620-251-6108. The City website is coffeyville.com.
