Arson related fire in Coffeyville

Ten people or four families were displaced from their homes due to a fire at 405 Elm St on Jan. 31. Between State Fire Marshall's office investigation and efforts of Coffeyville Police and Fire Departments, it was determined the cause of the fire is arson. They are looking into leads, but nothing yet confirmed. Fire Chief Bob Roesky tells us more. Roesky asked that anyone with information about the arson call Coffeyville Police Department at 620-252-6160.

Furthermore, the multi-family building did indeed have smoke alarms which alerted the four families, and very likely saved their lives. All 10 people escaped. The Red Cross of Southeast Kansas responded in the wee hours of that morning on Jan. 31. Two of the 10 homeless victims of the fire stayed at Sleep Inn and others made plans with family.

Roesky asks anyone with information about the arson, please call Coffeyville Police Department at 620-252-6160.
