On Wednesday Independence Police heard gunfire north of 12th and Laurel. As officers searched for the source reports indicated the shots came from the 600 block of W. Hickory. Officers arrived at the residence but the occupants refused to come to the door. Officers sought a search warrant and once a search warrant was obtained officers located marijuana, methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, one handgun, two shotguns, and two rifles inside the residence. All the firearms were loaded. Officers located two spent shotgun rounds. 23 year-old Katie Clarkson and 30 year-old Robert Sherley were arrested for interference with a police officer and conspiracy to unlawfully discharge a firearm in the city. 23 year-old Brian Eytcheson was arrested for conspiracy to unlawfully discharge a firearm in the city, battery on a law enforcement officer, possession of a stimulant drug, possession of a hallucinogenic drug, possession of drug paraphernalia, interference with a police officer, disorderly conduct, criminal use of weapons, and criminal possession of a firearm by a felon.
All three are being held in the Montgomery County Department of Corrections pending a court appearance.
