The sound inside the William Inge Theater at Independence Community College should be improving soon. A grant from the Kansas Creative Arts Industries Commission (KCAIC) and funds donated by the ICC Foundation will go toward the purchase of professional-level acoustic shells. The grant was for $5,000. The foundation supplied matching funds to cover the $10,600 cost of the six shells. The shells create a portable wall structure specially designed to direct sound from the stage toward the audience. The shells are expected to be delivered to the college in mid-February.
Foundation Director Mandy Monroy says the gift is an ideal opportunity to support a project that mutually benefits the college and community.
