A.G's Office Effort to Stop Robo-Callers Continue

On Monday Kansas Attorney General Derek Schmidt announced he is now apart of a bipartisan group effort to lessen the burden and scams from robocalls. Saying in the past they would only investigate after the call was already made, now they turn their focus to better call blocking with the phone companies.

He says next year they hope to have a new call blocking system called SHAKEN/STIR in place that he hopes drastically helps the number of calls. Schmidt says the group includes 40 different states AG’s office as in the past the AG’s office would be a lone entity in trying to track down and convict scammers and sources of robocalls. Schmidt is hoping with the help from the phone companies and addition of new technology the amount of calls will decrease, which was over 30 billion last year as he says 10 billion of those were scams.
