Tomorrow The City of Independence will put its disaster skills to the test. The Montgomery County Emergency Management, Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, Labette Health in Independence, Labette Health Emergency Medical Services, and Cherryvale Fire/EMS will host a mass casualty incident. Director of Safety and Code Enforcement David Cowan designed the event says the goal is test the capacity of all the agencies participating in the drill and to learn how they can better work together to protect the citizens.

In addition the drill will also involve Independence Police and Dispatch services, Independence Fire-EMS, and personnel from city utilities, the park and zoo, and the Independence Housing Authority.
