Fatal Early Morning Fire

 

 

The call came in at 3:12 a.m. for a structure fire at 1508 S. Willow, the Coffeyville Fire Department responded to a fire with individuals trapped inside. Upon arrival firefighters reported heavy flames coming from the second floor of the structure. A ladder was used to rescue three people from the second-story window. Fire Chief Bob Roesky has confirmed one of the individuals died as a result of the fire as all three were unconscious and were transported to CRMC. Roesky says, “One individual died at CRMC, and the other two were sent by helicopter to Tulsa.”  “We do not know the extent of their injuries at this time.” All Coffeyville fire personnel, the South Coffeyville Fire Department and Dearing Fire Department were called for assistance. The fire was brought under control within 30 minutes, and there were no other injuries reported. CFD, the Coffeyville Police Department and the Kansas State Fire Marshall are investigating the fire. The house is owned by Gary Close as damages are estimated at $50,000. Additional information will be released as it becomes available.
