The Kansas Bureau of Investigation releases the 2017 Kansas Domestic Violence, Stalking and Rape Report. The report compiles data on domestic violence, rape, stalking, sodomy, and sexual battery incidents reported to the KBI by state and local law enforcement across Kansas. The analysis found that domestic violence incidents decreased 1.3 percent. Domestic violence homicides, however, saw a 21.6% increase. There were 38 homicides relating to domestic violence last year, that is the most in 20 years.

Occurrences of rape increased by just over 8%. The statistics show that 80% of the victims knew their attacker.
