A 25-year-old Columbus woman lands in the Cherokee County Jail following the investigation into the abuse of two children under the age of five. Sheriff David Groves says the investigation began in March. The children had been physically abused to the extent one was transported to Children's Mercy Hospital in Kansas City.

Samantha Weaver was arrested on a $50,000 bond and faces charges of aggravated battery, felony child abuse and felony child endangerment.
