An interim Chief of Police has been named for the Parsons Police Department. City Manager Debbie Lamb has moved assistant Chief of Police Dennis Dodd into the role while a search is conducted to replace Chief Jason Sharp. He has resigned to accept a position with Labette Community College. Dodd has served with the Parsons PD since 2006. He was promoted to assistant chief in 2016.

The process for hiring the next chief includes a panel comprised of the city manager, city attorney, city human resources director and two law enforcement individuals from outside the Parsons Police Department.
