Job Cuts Announced At Pitt State

Stagnant state funding gets part of the blame for job cuts announced by Pittsburg State University. The university says state funding issues, increasing costs and enrollment pressures will lead to the elimination of 19 positions. Employees affected by the layoff will continue to be paid through mid-June, receive job placement assistance through the university’s Office of Career Services, and have preferred status for university job openings over the next 12 months.

Vice President for Administration Doug Ball points out that had state funding simply kept pace with inflation recently, Pittsburg State would have seen its general fund budget increase by nearly $9 million.
