It appears it was a tragic accident. Montgomery County Sheriff Bobby Dierks says there is no evidence of foul play in the death of Cory Barnes. The Texas man went missing in Coffeyville. His body was found on the 16th by the Verdigris River Bridge. Sheriff Dierks says Barnes was walking back to where he was staying near the Industrial Park after visiting a Coffeyville bar.
Barnes was walking across the bridge on US 166/169, and Dierks says it appears he jumped over the side to avoid being struck by traffic.
