Severe Weather Tips

With severe weather season all but here, do you know what to do in the event of an emergency? We spoke with meterologist Stacia Knight on the upcoming season and she stressed having a plan in place before the storm hits takes some of the worry. She says if you don't have a basement staying in the most central area of your home will give you the most protection. In a bathroom, a closet or a crawl space is what she recomended just to put as many walls in between you and the outside of your house. Going into the day of a storm it's also to stay up to date with the surrounding watches and warnings and also knowing the difference. A watch means the atmospheric conditions are possible for severe weather and a warning means those conditions currently exist. Staying up to date with those notifications will keep you ahead of the storm and safer in the long run. Staying calm, staying up to date with the storm, and having a plan in place will keep you ahead of this storm season.
