The Montgomery County Register of Deeds seeks some pay hikes for her department. Register Marilyn Calhoun asked the county commission yesterday to provide the necessary funds to pay for raises for employees in her office. She says they're being paid under the state average.  Typically, it is up to the official to determine raises out of their existing budget.

Commissioners decided to table the matter for another week to further consider how to handle Calhoun's request.
