Spring is in the air! The Riverside Park in Independence has it's “opening day” this Saturday with plenty of activities to be involved with. Director of the Independence Chamber of commerce Lisa Wilson tells us some things you'll see include a free pancake breakfast featuring “Chris Cakes,” a professional pancake making and flipping group. A putt putt tournament at the newly improved course, starting at 9:30, and the rest o the activities to fall in between 11 and 3. Those other activities include train rides, face painting, a free petting zoo and food vendors will also be in attendance. Lisa Wilson says it's not only something the community looks forward to, but other citizens do travel from other towns to be apart of the park opening. The Riverside Park opening is from 11 to 3 this Saturday on north 5th street, in Independence.
