Basketball season may still be months away in Coffeyville, but the Red Ravens are preparing for next season by adding a new assistant coach to Jay Herkelman's staff.

 

John Weigner has been hired as the newest member of the staff, joining Herkelman and fellow assistant coach Jordan Bailey.

 

Weigner spent last season as a Graduate Assistant at the University of Albany, working with the coaching staff on day-to-day operations including team video work, film, recruiting, and skill development. He attended the Unviersity of Rhode Island where he served as a student manager under head coaches David Cox and Archie Miller. He has worked with current NBA players Jacob Toppin, Tyrese Martin, and Jeff Dowtin.

 

Weigner joins a Red Raven program hungry to return to the National Tournament, after a 23-9 season that ended with a Region VI semifinals loss to Barton.
