The Kansas City Royals will be represented on the international stage at the 2026 World Baseball Classic, with shortstop Bobby Witt Jr committing to play for Team USA.
Witt joins New York Yankees outfielder Aaron Judge and Pittsburgh Pirates pitcher Paul Skenes as the current MLB players to commit to Team USA, who will be managed by Mark DeRosa.
The KC superstar calls the invitation an honor, saying "it's something I've dreamed about my whole entire life. Just being a part of that team a couple years ago was amazing, and now we're going to bring home the gold."
Witt served as a bench player on the 2023 team, going 1-for-2 in limited action. He finished second in MVP voting last season to Judge, and is hitting .285 with 40 runs batted in this season.
