The Kansas City Royals continue to have uncharacteristic struggles at Kauffman Stadium, dropping their ninth straight game at home in a 3-0 loss to the Tampa Bay Rays.
A three-run second inning for Tampa would be all they would need, as the KC offense posted just three hits, and have scored just four total runs in the past four games.
Manager Matt Quatraro says the team's execution in the box has to improve.
Bobby Witt Jr, Maikel Garcia, and Vinnie Pasquantino are the only three regulars with hitting metrics above league average, and top prospect Jac Caglianone is hitting just .186 through his first 19 career games. Quatraro says the guys in the dugout continue to battle every day.
The Royals wrap up the series with Tampa Bay today, before hosting the Los Angeles Dodgers this weekend.
