The Kansas City Royals found their way back to the win column for the first time in a week, snapping a six-game losing streak in a 6-1 win over the Texas Rangers.
Kansas City scored three runs in the first inning, in large part due to a two-run home run from catcher Salvador Perez. Perez finished the evening with three hits, two home runs, and four runs batted in.
Bobby Witt Jr and Maikel Garcia both had multiple hits as well, including Witt hitting his ninth home run of the season in the fifth inning. Seth Lugo pitched six strong innings, allowing one run and striking out nine.
Kansas City improves to 35-38 on the season, and look to win back-to-back games tonight, with Kris Bubic on the mound against Patrick Corbin of the Rangers. Coverage begins at 6:30 with first pitch at 7:05 on the Mighty 690, KGGF.
